On June 14th, 2019 our agency held its annual Flag Day barbecue. Downtown Stafford was covered in American flags and everyone was very patriotic in their red, white and blue!

In past years our own Stafford Fire Department has had the honor of hoisting the huge 90 foot flag across the street from Paradiso Insurance, unfortunately they had some technical difficulties with their truck and were unable to. We want to give Alpine Tree Co. a big shout out for stepping in at the last minute and saving the day!

Fortunately, the Safford Fire Department was still able to attend our event and even brought along an antique fire engine to display!

And of course a BBQ wouldn’t be a BBQ without all the food! Hot dogs and hamburgers were grilled up all day thanks to John Locke, Larry McKinney, Matt Gaughran and Launa Trinque, while Fine Swine Catering Services served up some delicious hand cut roast beef. In fact, they started smoking the meat in the early hours of the morning! It was worth the wait though, attendees couldn’t stop raving about it!

The food was so amazing that the line went all the way through the alley and down main street!  Attendees even came back for seconds and thirds!

We also had a special cake for Rachel. Rachel, Chris’s sister, recently competed in the Special Olympics and won two medals in swimming.

Plymouth Rock Assurance, StillWater Insurance Company, Travelers Insurance, and The Hartford also attended with free give-aways and games for all in attendance. Plymouth Rock’s cornhole boards were quite a hit!

i98.3 was back this year, streaming live music and joining in the fun. They always bring a ton of energy to our Flag Day event and we can’t wait to see them again next year!

Our agency handed out free t-shirts and American flags (made 100% in America) all day long to anyone who wanted one. We even had bubbles, wrist bands and face painting for the kids so they could get into the spirit as well! Additionally, our agency asked everyone to bring in their retired flags so we can give them a proper disposal ceremony. Many attendees were extremely grateful for our respect towards the American flag, and we were happy to provide citizens with a new one.

Flag Day is more than just a holiday, but a day of honoring those who have sacrificed for our freedom. We are proud to see so many of our neighbors joining in and celebrating our nation and all that we stand for – we can’t wait to do it again next year!
