  • Limit salt (sodium).
  • Stay at a healthy weight by balancing the calories you eat with your physical activity.
  • Eat more foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as fish.
  • Limit drinks and foods with added sugar.
  • If you drink alcohol, drink in moderation.

How will healthy employees help benefit my company?

If you don’t own a company and are concerned about your own personal health benefits, then you can probably skip down to the next section on some of our favorite heart healthy recipes. Although, for our commercial clients, we wanted you to be aware of how healthy employees can benefit your company. Here’s some things you’ll notice if you implement a wellness program that focuses on your employee’s health:

  • Accidents will occur less in the workplace when employees are more focused and aware. This will help keep your number of claims down, and your commercial insurance policy at an affordable premium.
  • Better fitness can help decrease stress, increase strength, and boost your immune system. With all that being said, it will be less likely for diseases or illnesses to travel around in the workplace.
  • Generally speaking, you’ll see employees take less time off for sickness, so your company will lose less money to sick pay or hindered productivity.
  • The cost of insurance for your employees should be more affordable. If employees get sick less often, they will qualify for lower insurance rates, which will help them save annually.
  • If employees take less time off to being sick, then other employees don’t have to pick up slack for absentees. This should help with improving staff morale across the board, and decreasing the amount of stress in the workplace too.
