Supporting Those who Didn’t let the Support End

When an organization serving 51 disabled adults, and employing 192 staff, decided to no longer do business with the state of Connecticut after 16 years, Journey Found was created. They assumed contracts and services with no disruption for those enrolled in the programs and began a much needed process of culture change and values clarification.
Journey Found is unique non-profit organization that does more than just provide a place to live for adults with developmental disabilities. At Journey Found, special care is taken to address behavioral issues in adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. There is a focus on creating personal growth, and developing independence through a person-centered organization that is made of up of a team of Clinical Behavioral Specialists, Registered Nurses, and highly trained Program Directors and Coordinators.
Journey Found strives to provide an environment where individuals are treated with respect and dignity. With this comes offering opportunities for these disabled adults to function as productive members of the community so they become what they are capable of being. Creativity and innovation are encouraged and rewarded in the workplace, and the staff is continuously being educated about the best practices.
Please join us on Thursday, November 13th to support those who made sure the support didn’t end for 51 valued adults. This event benefits both the Journey Found staff and volunteers, admission is by donation and a hot dinner will be provided for guests attending. The event runs from 4-7pm at the Delicacy Market (774 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT). We hope to see you there!
