Never Share a Lane with another Motorcycle or Vehicle

Many people have seen motorcyclists riding side-by-side in the same lane on the road. Although this looks fun, it is something you should never do. Sharing the lane with another motorcycle or vehicle puts you at significant risk. Minor drifting or other actions could affect your bike causing you to lose control or fall off the motorcycle. Ride with no bikes or cars beside you in the same lane.

Wear a Helmet and Protective Clothing Every Time

Always wear a helmet whenever you get on the motorcycle even for a short trip. You also want to wear protective clothing. This should include a durable jacket, heavy shoes, and thick pants. The helmet and clothing will protect you during an accident. They can mean the different between minor bruises and severe injuries.

Be Courteous On the Road

A final tip is to be courteous while on the road. Some drivers today do not like motorcycles on highways. Obey the rules, go with the flow of traffic and do not tailgate other vehicles. Be polite and considerate of others on the road in order prevent situations that can escalate and become dangerous due to hurt feelings.
