Ready to Pop the Question? Better Get Ring Insurance First!

imagesIt’s the moment that many of us wait for our entire lives.  If you’re a woman, then chances are you’ve been dreaming about this day since you were a little girl.  If you’re a guy, chances are you haven’t really given it a thought… UNTIL you find the right one!  Now for the purpose of this blog this afternoon, let’s take this story from the vantage point of the guy, since he’s the one who’s going to be purchasing the ring to put on that special someone’s finger.

And that brings us to the reason for this blog.  Diamond rings are pretty expensive, ranging from the high hundreds, into the tens of thousands (we’re talking about real people here, not celebrities that buy $100,000+ engagement rings). Due to the cost of these sparkling rings, extra insurance should be looked into if you’ve decided to break the bank and spend upwards of $5-10,000 on it.  Now, heaven forbid if you have the ring in your home or car, and you’re robbed, then the ring should be covered by your homeowners or auto CT insurance policies.  But think about individuals who live in an apartment or tenament home and don’t have renters insurance?

What would happen then if the ring were stolen? Well, without the renters policy, the price to replace the ring would be all on the person EXPECT if they had special CT insurance for the ring iteself.  Now, chances are, if the person has a policy already for the ring, then they probably already have a renters policy, so no harm, no foul.  But you never know!  So before you get down on one knee and promise yourself to your loved one for the rest of your life,  make sure that ring has CT insurance to back it up!
