What is Senior Citizens Day?
Senior Citizens Day takes place yearly on August 21st. There are various events and activities organized around this day to help us observe it and commemorate our senior citizens and their contributions to our society. It’s important that we raise awareness for the elderly and recognize their achievements as well. Some people organize awareness through social media platforms, while others are organizing special community events, gatherings, or inviting senior family members to meet up with the rest of the family.

History of Senior Citizens Awareness Day

Some people actually celebrate Senior Citizens Day on August 14th as it was the original day for its observance. In 1988, Ronald Reagan, who was the US President during the time, had declared this day a day to observe our senior citizens, in honor of senior citizens everywhere who had positive impacts and contributions on their local communities.
