Independence Day is probably one of the most patriotic holidays America celebrates. On July 4th, 1776, the United States of America became an independent and free nation. To this day, proud citizens across the country celebrate our freedom with family, friends, and of course, fireworks.

Fireworks go hand and hand with the Fourth of July holiday. To celebrate, many towns and cities often also hold parades and carnivals during this special day, and if you’re looking for great family fun, here are some fun, New England, Fourth of July events to check out in honor of Independence Day:

Boston POPS Fireworks Spectacular

If you don’t mind the crowds, this is a site to see up in the city of Boston. Every year, guests from around the country show up to watch an incredible live concert performance and fireworks show. The Boston POPS Fireworks Spectacular is completely free and is held on Wednesday, July 4th from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

The Fireworks of East Longmeadow

Not too far from the area of Stafford Springs, CT, a stop to the town of East Longmeadow in Massachusetts will bring you and your family to some fun, New England,  Fourth of July events.

In the morning, a parade kicks off at 10:00 AM, while carnival activities lines the streets all night long. There’s also a large fireworks celebration which will take place July 3rd at 9:30 PM at the East Longmeadow High School.

Riverfront Fireworks

Located in Hartford, CT the Riverfront Fireworks take place right near the Connecticut River. At 7:00 PM, there’s a lively concert followed by a firework show that takes place at 9:00 PM. The event can be viewed at either Great River Park or Mortensen Riverfront Plaza, and will be held on July 14th.

Windsor Locals Fire Department Carnival

Every year the Windsor Locks Fire Department holds a three day carnival at Veterans’ Memorial Park in Windsor Locks, CT. This year the carnival runs on June 28th, 29th, and the 30th with a firework show on June 29th at 9:30 PM, and a Firefighters’ Parade on June 30th at 6:15 PM.

Parking and admission are completely free to the event. We also recommend checking out their Facebook page for updates on the event.

The Great American Boom

Held every year at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT, the Great American Boom is a giant patriotic festival with live music, and of course, a firework show. The festival will be held on July 4th, and will run from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, while fireworks will shoot off at 9:15 PM that night.

Fireworks Extravaganza

On July 6th, 7th, and 8th, the town of Enfield is hosting a special 3 day, fun, Fourth of July event full of music, food, contests, and even road races. Additionally, on July 8th at 9:45 PM, there will be a special firework show on the Enfield Town Green.
