Well we are half way through the first week in March, and with the unseasonably warm winter that we are closing out, Spring seems to be right around the corner.  And what happens so many times with the coming of the warmer months? Spring flooding!

Everyone should have some type of Hartford flood insurance policy, regardless of their location.  Floods can happen at a moment’s notice, and if you don’t have the coverage, you’ll find yourself literally up stream without a paddle. So if you’re someone with out the right Hartford flood insurance, now’s the time to invest in a solid policy- and here’s some tips to help you along the way:

-damage caused by a sewer malfunction will only be covered if the malfunction is a direct result of flooding.

-Homes in high-risk flood areas are required by law to have flood insurance. But even if you aren’t located in one of these regions, you should absolutely invest in a policy anyway.

-There’s typically a 30 day waiting period from the time you purchase a flood policy until it goes into effect…so get going immediately if you lack a policy!

-The National flood insurance program will not be effective until full payment is received.

Hopefully these few tips provided by floodsmart.gov will assist you when purchasing a policy.  Don’t let another day go by without Hartford flood insurance coverage! Call us today!
