We can finally say goodbye to the cold and hello to gorgeous weather (for now at least). With all these rays of sun and blue skies ahead it’s time to enjoy to great outdoors. Today we have gathered up some fun packed attractions right here in Connecticut.

This 184 acre estate was built by noted actor William Hooker Gillette. The focus of his endeavor was a 24 room mansion that reflected a medieval castle. Gillette castle, along with its property, was purchased by the State of Connecticut. Its beautiful woodlands and trails are now managed for all to enjoy for now and time to come. The main structure took 25 years to complete. Gillette designed the castle personally, as he kept a keen eye on every phase of its making. Gillette’s influence carries on to the outside where you will find his personally constructed walking paths.

  1. The Adventure Park (Bridgeport, Ct)

Within 5 acres of woodland behind the museum building you will find the “aerial forest park.” This park is the first of it’s kind in our home state! Experience a one of a kind adventure that is perfect for friends and families. The adventure park offers trails from beginner to advanced. You will be able to climb with confidence as you will be prepared with a complete safety orientation before your climb. What makes this park especially unique is that the trails are purposely designed for self-discovery. Be sure to check out their night climbing also!

  1. Elizabeth Park Conservancy (Hartford, CT)

In 1977 the Elizabeth Park Conservancy was formed to save this breathtaking historic rose garden from demolition.  It is home to the oldest rose garden in America, opened to the public in 1897. This estate was  donated by Charles Pond in honor of his wife, Elizabeth. The Conservancy restored and maintains other gardens on the site as they have also renovated buildings and greenhouses. The Conservancy manages volunteers and has a full staff of  gardening personnel, contractors, and summer gardeners. It also hosts programs and events for the public such as music, tours, and family activities.
