The time has come once again for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s picks for their coveted top safety picks for 2013-2014 automobiles. This year’s awards were even tougher to achievefor automakers because of tighter criteria.
Dueto these changes, at total of twenty-two cars earned the highest award of TopSafety Pick Plus compared with thirteen awards from last year.
So what are someof the changes in the testing? Well, new front-end crash simulations are nowincorporated into the tests to make sure that the vehicles experience collisionswith front object both caused by their own accord, and by a possible other vehiclebehind it that may have caused the tested car to veer off its intendedpath.
