For many, Friday signals the end of the work week and a time to prepare for activities with friends and family. You may be excited for the weekend, but not everyone gets to come home, relax, or see loved ones. Our military members who are deployed may not even get the chance to see their loved ones for months on end.

That’s why we all take pride in wearing red on Fridays here at Paradiso Insurance. Every Friday, we go out of the way to wear red because we hold the utmost respect for our military members and their decision to serve our country.

How did R.E.D. Friday Start?

There is a bit of speculation of when R.E.D. Friday was actually started. Some say it started right after 9/11, and others say it started as a chain email back in the early 2000s. Regardless, many Americans took to this movement, and on Fridays you can see the flood of support for our troops on various social media networks using the #REDFriday hashtag.

Who can Wear Red?

Anyone can wear red! In fact, we encourage everyone to do so, and it doesn’t matter what type of red you wear – it can be a tie, socks, a shirt, or even a scarf.

Additionally, if you don’t have any red attire in your closet, you can stop into our insurance agency for a free Paradiso Insurance R.E.D. Friday t-shirt, and we will happily supply one to you. Just make sure to wear it every Friday to show support for our troops.

Why do we Wear Red?

On Fridays, red is more than just a color. In fact, the “R.E.D.” in R.E.D. Friday actually stands for “Remember Everyone Deployed” as a reminder to remember our brave men and women who are stationed overseas. By wearing the color red on R.E.D. Friday we are reminded of the sacrifices our military makes for us to freely enjoy the weekend.

Wearing red on Friday also reminds us to not take these privileges for granted, and to show support for the daily sacrifices our military makes. They often get deployed into harsh climate conditions and can’t enjoy a day off like most of us do.

Additionally, wearing red also allows you to stand in solidarity with the families who don’t get to come home to their loved ones every day. You become a voice for those who may not have it, like children who miss their mother or father.

It can be hard for anyone to go months without seeing a loved one, and when you share your red attire in person or on social media, you become a bit of comfort they may need during the day.

Our troops and their families need all the support they can get, and sadly, American pride and patriotism have been declining over the years. That’s why we ask you stand with our insurance agency and wear red every Friday. Show remembrance for those who gave the ultimate price, so you can live comfortably with the privileges you have now.

Everyone at Paradiso Insurance stands behind the men and women who defend our freedoms, fight for the safety of others, and help keep America safe.

When you wear red, you show support for those who are serving, you show that you are proud to be an American and proud to stand by those who defend our country and flag.

If you’d like to show your support for the brave men and women who are currently deployed, please join us and remember to wear red every friday. We’d love to see your support, so don’t forget to tag us in any pictures you post for R.E.D. Friday!
