Who would think that something as simple as cutting and pasting pictures on a board could influence the direction of your life? Well, a lot of people actually! When you create a vision board you bring your ideas, dreams, and goals to life. When you see things visually they become your thoughts, and your thoughts become your actions. See where we are going with this? As a matter of fact, visualization has proved time and time again to be a very effective technique to improve performance, even in athletes!

Don’t believe us? We dare you to give it a try! Let’s talk about ways to approach making your own personal vision board…

An important thing to understand before you get started is that your vision board should reflect how you want to feel. Of course your board may include material things, but that shouldn’t be the sole focus of it. Remember, your vision board is unique to you. This means if someone else was to look at it, they may not necessarily understand it. Not to worry, that’s what makes it yours!

The great thing about a vision board is that there are no rules, and you can make changes anytime you’d like!  Here are a few helpful questions to help you get started.

  • What are you goals in terms of: Relationships? Career? Finances? Health? Personal growth? Travel?
  • What makes you feel good? What do you associate with that feeling?
  • What are some of your favorite inspiring quotes?

Like we said before, when it comes to vision boards, there are no rules! You can even make even more than one board. If you find yourself expanding on one part of your board, but really need room for other thoughts, consider dedicating another board solely to elaborating on that one thought.

Are you ready to get started? Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A board. This can be a cork board or a poster board
  • Scissors, tape, glue/ pins (depending on your board of choice)
  • Magazines to cut photos and words from
  • The things you want to look at everyday (what you collect from answering the above questions)
  • A great working environment. Never rush your vision board, dedicate time to relax and unwind as you think peacefully about your vision board and let your thoughts flow.
  • Markers, stickers, or anything you want to decorating your board to your liking.

Make your thoughts come to life and enjoy the perks of looking at your vision board daily! Share your final piece with us on Facebook, we’d love to see it!
