I think it’s pretty safe to say that we all could use a few extra minutes (or hours) of sleep each night, but we all know that’s easier said than done. But sleep, no matter how you slice it, is a vital part of a healthy lifestyle.  Numerous studies reveal the real and true negative health effects  of lacking the proper amount of sleep.  But again, easier said than done.

So what then can we do to attempt to get a few more zzz’s during the night? Well we’ve found a few tips that may be able to help you out.  Why not try them out… can’t hurt right? It’s bound to be somewhat effective toward improving your health and your CT health insurance as well.

Tip 1: Make sleep a priority, not a luxury.  Don’t think of a good night sleep as a special gift.  Make it a priority, just like eating a good dinner.  View eight hours of sleep a success, not five.

Tip 2: Ease into more sleep.  I’ll be the first to admit that I stay up to late, whether watching TV or reading. But try heading to bed a few minutes earlier than normal for a week.  And then try a few minutes earlier than that.  Those minutes add up and you’ll certainly feel better!

Tip 3: Unplug and forget-  Again, I’m guilty of this too.  Turning off the laptop or putting down the book to go to bed, and then reaching over for the cell phone to check messages, Twitter, etc.  Resist the temptation of all the devices! It’s bed time! Completely unplug and let yourself fall asleep.

Tip 4: Avoid the nightcaps.  Avoiding liquid, especially of the alcoholic variety, will not only help you sleep better, but will obviously cause you to sleep sounder, because you’ll obviously avoid the middle of the night tips to the bathroom.

So hopefully these few tips will help you get the good night sleep that you deserve! I know I’ll be trying them tonight. If nothing else, it’ll help your health and your CT health insurance!
