Wow! Connecticut absolutely got blasted with snow! How much did your community get? While the greater Boston area was initially supposed to get the most, it appears that CT actually got hit the hardest, with some areas getting as much as 38”! We don’t about you, but we’re not sure we’ve seen this much snow in New England since the famous Blizzard of 1978. Either way, this is a historical amount of snow for our region, so let’s take a look at the facts.

The rate of snowfall in Connecticut was 4-5 inches per hour.
Six states have declared an emergency.
Hamden, CT and Milford, CT received 34 and 38 inches respectively.
The peak winds during the blizzard were 83 mph.

In Massachusetts and Rhode Island, local and state police were issuing fines up to $500 for driving on the streets.
1,700 flights were cancelled on Saturday.
659,000 customers lost power in nine states.
About 40 million total residents were affected by the storm in the Northeast.

Crazy, crazy, CRAZY! Who knew we’d be getting as much snow as we did?We hope everyone is doing well and either completely dug out or close to it.  Furthermore, make sure to check out your roof situation to see if there’s potential for a roof collapse for the massive amount of snow.  That’s a pretty severe CT homeowners insurance claim, so we want to make sure all of our customers’ homes are safe and sound!

Paradiso Insurance Agency is wishing that those trapped under a blanket of snow in central CT and beyond are staying warm and staying safe!
