Yesterday we began our discussion on the new Homeowners Insurance report released by the NAIC. Today, in conjunction with that report, we have some more information regarding your home insurance, specifically CT homeowners insurance.

Below are several very important factors that can have a significant affect on the cost of your Connecticut homeowners insurance policy and coverage:

  • Location!  Depending on how populated the area is, as well as the general value of real estate.
  • Cost of building.  It makes sense if you think about it- if it costs more money to repair a home, then it’s going to probably cost more to insure.
  • Weather. Just think about our neighbors down in Florida- their home insurance costs are higher for the simple fact that it’s more likely to experience a hurricane then, say those in West Virginia.
  • Economic influencers. Things about inflation, interest rates, and yes, real estate, all can affect the cost of home insurance!
